SKYRIVER COMMUNICATIONS APPOINTS DR. MARTHA DENNIS TO SERVE ON ADVISORY BOARD

Vice president of SD Telecom Council to advise broadband company on growth strategies

SAN DIEGO--July 16, 2002

SkyRiver Communications, Inc., a high-speed wireless broadband carrier, today announced that Dr. Martha Dennis, a venture partner with Windward Ventures, has joined its strategic advisory board. SkyRiver's advisory board assists the company in assessing the potential impact of new technology on its wireless broadband network and advises the company on strategic market growth and business development strategies.

SkyRiver Communications provides last-mile broadband Internet access for small-to-mid-sized companies in San Diego and Ontario, Calif., with new markets due to open later this year. SkyRiver utilizes an open-access architecture, low-cost IP infrastructure and license-free spectrum to provide broadband data access at a cost-per-Mbps significantly lower than traditional wireline carriers.

According to Dr. Dennis, "SkyRiver's operational strengths combined with a business model that balances consistent growth with profitability drew my interest in the company. The market for their service is significant and growing, and I believe they have the talent and execution skills to be successful."

As the vice president of the San Diego Telecom Council, chair of the city of San Diego's Science and Technology Commission, and a venture partner with a VC firm that funds early stage technology companies in southern California, Dennis is a prominent and influential figure in regional business and telecom markets. Dennis has had vast experience in wireless communications, having co-founded three successful communications companies over the past 15 years. She serves on the advisory boards of several entrepreneurial ventures.

Dennis is the former co-founder, president and CEO of wireless software development company WaveWare Communications, Inc., and previously held the position of co-founder and vice president of engineering at Pacific Communications Sciences, Inc., a San Diego-based developer of wireless communications equipment. She also served as assistant vice president at Linkabit Corporation. Dennis holds a BS from Smith College and a doctorate from Harvard University.
